What To Expect When Coming In For An Appointment At The Collection Bridal

Here at The Collection we know that coming in for a bridal appointment can be very exciting, but it can also be a little nerve-wracking, especially if it’s your first time trying on wedding gowns for your big day. So, we thought it might be helpful to make a quick blog post about what to expect when you come to us for an appointment.

First, one of our awesome consultants will sit down with you and ask you some questions. These questions will range from when your wedding date is, how many bridesmaids you have, what your fiancé is like, what you’re looking for in a dress, budget and things along those lines. This isn’t an interview, we just want to get to know you better!

Now for the fun part, walking around our store & picking out dresses that you want to try on! We encourage listening to your consultant and maybe even stepping out of your comfort zone a little & trying something on that you usually wouldn’t, because a lot of wedding gowns look much better on than they do on the hanger. Keep this in mind!

Once you’ve picked out some beautiful dresses, it’s time to go in the fitting room and try them on. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t like some of the ones you put on, you don’t even have to show whoever you brought with you if you don’t want to, but we promise that you will try some on that look absolutely stunning on you! It’s also important to be honest & open with your consultant about what you like & don’t like, I promise you won’t hurt their feelings at all! I mean, come on, they didn’t design these dresses.

Another thing is you should expect to show the people you brought at least a couple of dresses that you try on, & also expect for everyone to have a different opinion. Remember, that’s what you brought them with you for, so don’t get discouraged if they don’t like something that you do. But, I’m sure that they will love whatever you love, because they love you.

Lastly, if you find “the one” be prepared for us to be over the moon excited for you! We can pop champagne, we can take pictures, we can do anything you want because this is your moment! Cheers!

Maria Elena Headpieces

“The history of Maria Elena Headpieces is not just the story of a business, but the story of a family. Over a decade ago, Maria Elena created her very first headpiece as a mother’s gift to her daughter Marile to wear on her wedding day. This headpiece was not just an accessory, but was and is a precious family heirloom that will be passed down through the generations of their family.

Today, Maria Elena and Marile wish to share this gift with brides everywhere to sell you headpieces that were created with the same love and commitment that Maria Elena had when she created Marile’s bridal headpiece.”

We are so proud to carry Maria Elena headpieces & accessories, including earrings, necklaces, purses & more, at The Collection. Come in soon to have a private accessory styling! Our stylists are waiting for you.

Let’s talk Bridesmaids!

In this blog post we want to talk bridesmaids! Obviously we know how important they are, I mean come on, they stand right next to the bride on one of the most important days of her life! So what should they wear? When should they order their gowns? We’re here for all of your questions. We think bridesmaids should be in a beautiful gown that makes them feel their best, whether it be short or long, off the shoulder or strapless, fitted or loose, & so on (maybe even a mix!). It’s actually in trend right now for bridesmaids not to match each other 100%. This could mean they all wear the same color but different styles of gowns, or they all wear different shades of a color, for example. Every bridesmaid dress could be different, or just the maid of honors could be. This is super unique & makes for great pictures. Although we’re totally cool with the traditional route of all matching too, we encourage getting creative with your gown choices! Also, since we’re coming up on Summer it’s the perfect time to pick a fun color scheme. We’re loving jewel tones & pastels for this season. But whichever the bride & her bridesmaid chooses, the dresses should be ordered approximately six months out from the wedding. This gives time for the girls to pay, for the dresses to arrive & for alterations. It’s obviously the bride’s big day, but we think letting the bridesmaids help decide what they wear is super nice & helps them to feel involved. After all, they’re probably just as excited for the wedding as the bride!

Thanks for reading everyone.

Shutting Down Wedding Dress Rumors

When a bride tells someone that they’re going wedding dress shopping, they usually get a response at a mile a minute (because the other person is so excited for the bride!). But, not everything that everyone says about wedding dress shopping is true. On the blog today we want to shut down some wedding dress “rumors”.

First thing first, it’s definitely okay to come in with a price point range. But, with that being said, it is very difficult to put an exact price tag on what you will be wearing for one of the biggest days of your life! So try to come in with just an idea instead, if possible. It’s not every day you wear a gown, so quality is always something that should be at the forefront of your mind!

Next rumor we want to talk about is that your wedding dress should be white. The truth is, most designers aren’t designing in white anymore! Silk white or ivory are the colors of most of our sample gowns & honestly, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference unless you held a piece of printer paper up to the dress. Also blush, champagne & even earth tones (like nude & almond) are VERY in right now!

Another thing that is extremely important we discuss is sizing. So, wedding dress sizes are not the same as regular dress sizes because couture sizing runs much, much smaller. If you wear a four in street clothes, don’t freak out if the wedding dress size that fits you best is an six to eight. It’s also important to remember that each designer has their own size chart. With that being said, these dresses aren’t meant to fit perfect at first, they will need to be altered to fit your body! Lucky for our brides, our seamstresses are in house & are amazing at what they do.

We hope shutting down a few wedding dress rumors will be helpful to our beautiful brides & of course, if anyone reading has a question that we didn’t answer in this post, feel free to call or email! Thanks for visiting our blog, everyone!

Mother Of The Bride

The bond a mother & daughter share is hard to put in to words, but it’s something we feel so special to get to witness on a daily basis. “Mom, what do you think?” is a question we hear that makes us smile every time. The mother of the bride is expected to help with the guest list, keep track of the budget, help throw the bridal shower & engagement party, pay attention to details that could easily be overlooked, be the voice of reason, & be the calm in the midst of the storm that is planning a wedding. Here at The Collection, we recognize all that the mother of the bride does & we think it’s so important for her to feel valued & beautiful. Our selection of designer mother of the bride dresses consists of stunning gowns that flatter all different body shapes & sizes that will most definitely make her feel the way she deserves to. The fun thing about picking out this kind of dress is there are really no rules! The mother of the bride doesn’t have to match the bridal party, the dress can be short or long, it can have bling or no bling, but more often than not the look of “less is more” proves to be timeless & elegant. It’s also important to keep in mind that these dresses are special ordered just like bridal gowns & can take up to four months to come in, so not waiting until the last minute is crucial. But, the most important thing you need to know about mother of the bride dresses is that our amazing bridal stylists would be thrilled to help you find the perfect one!

Veil or no veil?

Here at The Collection, we have the perfect mix of traditional & modern brides. We have brides that would never not wear a veil, but then we have brides who won’t even think about trying one on! So, the million dollar question, veil or no veil? We think that’s 100% up to the bride to decide. But, we do tell our brides that this is the only day in your life you get to wear one. (Okay, maybe your bachelorette party, but we’re not counting that). A veil really can help pull the whole look together, but if that’s not your thing, we have stunning headpieces for your hair! Also, if you find your dress somewhere else, don’t hesitate to still come to us for any accessories. Veil or no veil, we would still love to help you accessorize!

Showcasing Monique Lhuillier

In this blog post, we want to highlight an incredible woman who is internationally recognized as one of America’s foremost designers- Monique Lhuillier! Monique is a Filipino-American fashion designer and creative director known for her bridal brand, which we are so proud to say we carry at our store. Being a wife & a mother, Monique is confident that her career in fashion is enriched by her strong dedication to family & commitment to philanthropic efforts. She actually established her company in 1996 with her husband, which is now considered one of the leading fashion houses in design, quality, & creativity. All of her collections over the past 20 years have captured the perfect essence of luxury & femininity, but her Spring & Fall 2018 line have taken it to another level. In a recent interview, Monique said she “envisioned a girl running through a delicate garden without a care in the world—pure bliss and madly in love”, when designing this line. How amazing is that? This collection encompasses all things beauty & bridal, & we know our brides are going to fall in love with the gowns. For this reason, we are proud to announce that we will be hosting a Monique Lhuillier trunk show February 16th-18th! Call now to make an appointment with one of our talented stylists.

Our fairy godmothers

We’ve talked about our amazing bridal stylists on this blog, but we’ve yet to talk about the “fairy godmothers” of The Collection Bridal. If you guessed that we’re talking about our unbelievable seamstresses, then you guessed right. Altogether, our seamstresses have over 40 years of experience doing what they love- making brides feel beautiful. Tailoring a dress to fit any type of body shape is truly an art of craftsmanship they have mastered. Both seamstresses have a gift of being able to look at a woman in a gown and know exactly what needs to happen to have the gown showcase the bride. Did we mention that all of our gown alteration is done in house? That’s pretty special. If you are a Collection bride, you will 100% be able to meet our seamstresses who are present for every  fitting to make sure you are happy with the end result, while having fun throughout the process of having your dress fitted to you. When we asked our seamstresses why they love what they do, they told us it was because they love being creative & paying attention to detail but above all they love helping all of their brides feel beautiful. At the end of the day, they are more than seamstresses- they are dress makers & we feel so lucky to have them here at The Collection Bridal!
